Racconto / Bruno Fadel

opera vincitrice del Premio In Sesto 2014
Fondazione Furlan, Pordenone

Within the Palinsesti exhibition of contemporary art organised by the municipality of San Vito al Tagliamento, the Furlan Foundation hosts the solo exhibition of Bruno Fadel, whose artwork Racconto (Tale) won the sixth edition of Premio in Sesto. Originally devised to be exhibited in the hall of Bozzoli Drying Kiln, the artwork is made up of two triangular shapes embedded in the architectural space of the room to underline its vertical height. Fadel arranges many different forms and heterogeneous materials – such as recycled materials, paintings and mosaic tiles – inside geometrical frames, on which he sketches signs and writings in order to convey his personal (and yet universal) story. Artworks allow memories to be rewritten, in order to save them from the process of stratification that time brings with itself. The osmosis between the past and the present and the recomposition of forms and objects to regenerate them are recurrent themes in Bruno Fadel’s artistic path. He reworks three-dimensional and two-dimensional objects, merging them into totem shapes; he superimposes words and geometrical weavings to create new textures and combines photographs and paintings, joining each sign to its meaning. Inside the exhibition itinerary of the Foundation, the artworks sleep in silence, though this silence is not sorrowful in absence of something, but because of the fear that the timeline may interrupt, leaving the humankind to wander alone. The exhibition prompts you to ponder upon silence. It invites viewers to appreciate its beauty and harmony. Through words and images, it pushes them to find an answer to evergreen questions.
